Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and performer who is born in NYC the city of New York, on November 22nd in 1984. Her performances have earned her acclaim across a wide range of genres including historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson is the daughter and wife of an architect, and producer, was born on the streets of New York City. Hunter and her twin as well as Johansson, were among the youngest children. At the age of seven years old, she was auditioning for television commercials. In order to improve her talents, she enrolled in an acting class at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan and then the Professional Children's School. At age eight she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and when she turned nine, she made her film debut with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson made her debut as a character in Just Cause, but she became famous through Manny & Lo, a film that follows orphaned siblings as they escape. The film received critical praise for her character as one of the teens who is injured in an unforgiving accident during The Horse Whisperer (1998) as well as further recognition for her role as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
