Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024Stevie Wonder quit MoTown in 1970, and put out two albums entirely on his own. Berry Gordy was shocked when Stevie Wonder told him this. Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's demand for more freedom and creative control over his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a contract worth thirteen million dollars with MoTown Records in 1972. Stevie Wonder was entitled to an increased royalty rate as well as more creative control and rights over his songs. This was a rare chance for artists of the time. The deal allowed Wonder's tracks to talk about controversial topics such as war, poverty, drugs and politics.Stevie is well-known for his songs that are political, like You Haven't Done Anything, which took a political stab at Richard Nixon. In 1972, he released Music Of My Mind, his first album in the brand new MoTown agreement. In late 1972 Stevie Wonder released an album that is now regarded as a landmark piece in music,Talking Book. Which included the number one hit-song, Superstition.
